School Chapel is good for the Soul

Just finished my 5th school chapel service for the week.  This is one of the great blessings of my ministry.  For I receive so much from God through these experiences.

I do two preschool chapels for 3-4 year old's on Tuesday, then two more for 5 year old's on Wednesday, capped off with the Elementary School chapel.  It is a lot of work to prepare for these services, especially after doing them for seven years and trying not to do the same devotions every year.  It truly stretches my creativity, but it is amazing to see what God gives me when I am putting them together.  Today, as I was putting the finishing touches on the Elementary School chapel on serving others because Jesus first served us, I was struck with the idea of wrapping it up with the song "Jesus loves me."  But then God gave me a different verse.

"Jesus loves me this I know,  for His children showed me so!
Showed me of His love so true,  Jesus I will follow you!
Yes, Jesus loves me!  Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!  His children showed me so!"
(Lutheran friends, please do not post me about introducing decision theology.  Our proper response to being chosen by God is to follow Him, and we discuss this very early on.)

"The goal of our service is that people would know that Jesus loves them, just like Jesus served us on the cross so that we could know how much His Father loves us." 

Preschool chapel keeps me grounded!  There is nothing like singing, "My God is so big! So strong and so mighty!  There's nothing my God cannot do...FOR YOU!" a half-dozen times in a day, then attend a Board of Director's meeting and realizing that this is just as true for the seemingly overwhelming problems of the church.  God is big enough and strong enough to handle them all!

I am so blessed to be able to receive so much from God every week!  I pray that God continues to bless Lutheran schools (and all Christian schools for that matter).  That we would continue to bring the little children to Him. For we are blessed just as much as they are by the hand of the One to whom we come.
